Nowadays all the rugs can be roughly subdivided into two large groups. They are machine made and handmade rugs. handmade rugs have their roots far in the ancient times. One can still find the specimens of ancient Persian handmade rugs in some of the museums or in famous rug collections. Nowadays handmade rugs are not of so high quality as they used to be centuries ago, but they are still preferred to machine made rugs due to their higher quality and longer durability. And it is not surprising then that handmade rugs are more expensive ones. As it concerns raw materials, synthetic materials are never used for making pile or foundation of handmade rugs. Wool, silk or a combination of two are the traditional materials for handmade rugs. | ||
